Freight Account Manager
Freight Sales Account Manager – Derby – Up to £35,000 plus Uncapped commission
General Responsibilities:

* Guaranteed salary starting from £20,000 – £25,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing the Branch key customer accounts that you acquire and ensuring a personable and tailored service to them at all times to build loyalty and ensure repeat business
- Maintain customer relationships at all times by weekly proactive relationship building and needs requirement calls and emails
- Carry out face to face meetings at reasonable intervals depending on the customer to build and maintain the relationship, discuss additional needs and proactively collect feedback on the company’s service and delivery.
- Re-engage with any former Branch customers they have not traded in the past 6 months on a rolling basis to ensure we continually retain and rebuild our customer portfolio
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure all jobs run efficiently and correctly and update customers where operations require support or for more problematic situations
- Obtain supplier prices from the market to quote company clients
- Build and maintain strong relationship with both new and existing suppliers
- Provide quotes directly to customers and ensure these are being followed up on to proactively win and close as many opportunities as possible
- Ensure that they have clear profit margins on all accounts and jobs, maximising these wherever possible
- Deal with all invoice queries/supplier queries in relation to any of your customer accounts
- Source new clients and identify new opportunities with existing clients through a variety of methods including proactive outbound calls
- Convert new client opportunities and/or work closely with the Business Development Manager’s where appropriate to support their closure of these to help build our client portfolio
- Work closely with the BDM’s to increase business from customers and quote for these as required
- Ensure all individual and team communication with customers (verbal and written) is friendly and professional at all times
Skills and experience required for this role
- Account management experience for road, air or sea freight customers
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills
- The ability to develop and build strong and personable relationships over the phone and in person with a broad range of individuals
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a strong team player
- Accountability to yourself and others
- Extremely organised with a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work well under pressure and able to work to tight deadlines
- High IT literacy skills and competence with Microsoft office packages
- An open and honest approach to all things
