Trainee Sales & Pricing Operative – Air & Ocean

Monday to Friday 08:30 – 16:30
Potential to Work from home 3 days a week after 6-month probation period.
My client is looking for someone with at least 2 years of logistics experience, preferably in a customer service or operations role in an Ocean or Air sales department. This role is based in Hayes and is potentially a stepping-stone to a Business Development Manager. Applicants must have an outgoing attitude, comfortable with face-to-face meetings and over the phone.
You will be part of an established Freight Forwarding organisation that operates on a worldwide scale and have provided Logistics solutions for over 30 years. They offer a range of services including Import, Export, Road Freight, Ocean Freight, Air Freight, Customs, and Warehousing Storage.
The Role:
- Customer quotes and follow ups
- Obtaining and negotiation of ocean rates, local charges and delivery rates from Shipping lines
- Developing business relationships with existing and new customer base
- To identify 10 to 12 researched Hot prospects per week
- Assist with the completion of tenders & marketing tools
- Assist with the clear handover process to operations for any shipments won
- Develop relationships with overseas agents and assist with routed business in the form of providing charges and local information to them
From You:
- Good understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Good general IT skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a good written and telephone manner
- Ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace
- Effective team worker
- Motivated and willing to learn new skills
