International Freight Forwarding - Business Development Manager - Air & Ocean Freight


Main Purpose of Role:

Manage a commercial strategy that exceeds sales and profitability targets whilst delivering the company goals, building the Company Brand and delivering year on year growth within the Air/ Sea freight Sectors.

Working within the Commercial Team to assist in the management and coordination of proposal, presentation and tender activity. Producing high quality, written proposals that clearly articulate the organisation value proposition.


Key Tasks & Accountabilities:

Co-ordinate completion of the tender submission ensuring submission dates are met
Deliver a Freight Forwarding Commercial Strategy that is personally executed
Develop and maintain library of documentation relevant to bids through liaison with the Freight Forwarding Dept
Logging all tender’s in the CRM
Conduct Market research and gain market intelligence sufficient to support the development of new business opportunities
Present proposals and progress leads through to new business generation
Develop and implement leads, using a consistent prospecting discipline ensuring that the business has an on-going healthy prospect pipeline
Ensure the provision of accurate and speedy quote information to enable the achievement of commercially attractive deals
Develop and implement sales support approaches that will enhance opportunities to win deals
Personally develop relationships and lead sales negotiations with customers and prospects, to ensure that business growth and retention is maximised
Contribute to the development of new and enhanced customer propositions (together with short term incentives) to enhance sales and profitability
Develop strategic relationships with key service providers and partners
Set direction for the transition of new business to the current Accounts Management team
Reporting and analysing industry trends
Complete internal reports and activities as agreed by Operations Director
Develop and implement sales support approaches that will enhance opportunities to win deals
Contribute to the development of new and enhanced customer propositions (together with short term incentives) to enhance sales and pro fit ability
Have a good understanding of the Imp o rt and Export Sea and Air markets
Identify relevant opportunities within the Air/ Sea freight market sectors
Communicate with Shipping Lines / Airlines to negotiate competitive rates on all trade lanes


The Package:
Salary £50,000 Basic
Benefits: £5.500 Car Allowance
