Position: Air and Ocean Freight Manager
Location: Castleford
Hours: Mon – Fri 9am – 17:30 (a level of flexibility will be required)
Salary: Up to £50,000 (DEO) – Plus Car Allowance

We are recruiting for a client of ours, a company, established over 100 years ago that specialises in multi-modal freight services.

The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of the air and ocean freight operations, ensuring smooth and efficient transportation of goods from origin to destination. You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to manage logistics, resolve issues, and implement best practices.

Your key responsibilities as an Air and Ocean Freight Manager:

• Supervise and mentor a team of 4 freight forwarders
• Providing training, performance evaluations, and fostering a collaborative working environment.
• Lead and manage air and ocean freight operations, ensuring on-time deliveries
• Develop and maintain relationships with carriers, shipping lines and suppliers
• Be the driving force of the team
• Prepare regular reports (KPIs) for air and ocean freight operations, providing insights to senior management on trends, challenges, and opportunities.
• Provide freight rates, quotes and pricing solutions for customers
• Deliver exceptional customer service
• Track and update delivery statues in the company’s system and provide regular updates to clients
• Job invoicing and costing
• Making sure the department stays up to date with regulations, ensuring compliance with all documentation

Requirements:

• Proven experience in air and ocean freight management, with a strong understanding of both industries
• Extensive Cargowise experience, with the ability to train the team – ESSENTIAL!
• Be a focused and driven individual who will drive the team forward
• Expertise in global shipping, customs regulations, import/export documentation, and compliance standards.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• The ability to problem solve and work effectively in a fast-paced environment and working to tight deadlines
