Location: West London, Birmingham or Manchester
A leading global logistics and freight forwarding organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to drive new business growth within its Pharma & Healthcare vertical.
This is a high-impact sales role for an established freight forwarding professional with a strong track record of winning new business within the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector.
The position can be based ideally around West London, Birmingham or Manchester, with flexibility around office attendance and travel depending on location.

The Role
Reporting into the UK Sales leadership team, you will take responsibility for developing new business opportunities across the Pharma & Healthcare sector, working closely with operational teams to deliver tailored freight forwarding solutions.
You will focus on identifying, developing and converting new opportunities across Air and Ocean Freight, while building long-term relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and developing new business opportunities within Pharma & Healthcare
- Building and managing a strong pipeline of prospective customers
- Developing new and existing relationships at senior stakeholder and customer level
- Selling Air & Ocean Freight solutions across the UK market
- Understanding customer supply chains and developing commercially viable logistics solutions
- Working closely with Operations and internal specialist teams to secure and deliver new business
- Developing short- and long-term sales strategies across target accounts
- Managing the full sales cycle from initial prospecting through to commercial negotiation and close
- Achieving and exceeding new business revenue and Gross Profit targets
- Maintaining accurate CRM activity, pipeline reporting and sales forecasting
- Representing the business at relevant Pharma & Healthcare exhibitions and industry events
- Ensuring sales activity follows appropriate GDP and regulatory compliance requirements
- Working alongside internal quality and GDP specialists where required
- Monitoring market trends and identifying opportunities for further growth
- Supporting the wider sales team and contributing to regional growth strategies
About You
We’re looking for an experienced freight forwarding Business Development Manager who understands the Pharma & Healthcare market and has a genuine track record of winning new business.
You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience in Business Development within Pharma / Healthcare logistics
- Strong freight forwarding experience across Air and/or Ocean Freight
- An existing network of Pharma / Healthcare customers and industry contacts
- Good understanding of GDP principles and compliance
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical supply chains, including temperature-controlled / cold-chain logistics
- A proven track record of generating and converting new business
- Experience managing the complete sales cycle, from prospecting through to negotiation and implementation
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Confidence engaging with senior commercial and customer stakeholders
- Experience working collaboratively with Operations to develop customer solutions
- Strong CRM, reporting and pipeline management experience
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills
- A proactive, target-driven and commercially minded approach
The role has a flexible approach to office attendance, with the ability to work remotely depending on location and business requirements. Regular travel across the designated territory and occasional wider UK travel will be required.
