Container Transport Operator
Container Transport Operator – Southampton – Up to £40,000
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Traffic Operator to join a busy transport operation. This role involves coordinating drivers, liaising with ports, and ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of cargo while maintaining excellent communication with both drivers and customers.
Shifts: Monday to Friday (Occasional Saturday)
Job type: Permanent
Salary: Up to £40,000

Duties & Responsibilities
- Dealing with multiple drivers on a daily basis
- Communicating with ports to coordinate movements and bookings
- Booking delivery slots for port entry
- Using the TOPS transport system to record driver start and finish times
- Chasing drivers for ETAs and ensuring timely arrivals
- Rerouting jobs as required to meet operational demands
- Checking all PODs are correctly matched with the relevant jobs on the system
- Speaking with customers regarding potential delays and advising ETAs
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Traffic Operator – Essential
- Experience in Container planning
- Confident and clear communicator (both written and verbal)
- Excellent UK geographical knowledge
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Quick and efficient problem-solving skills
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Flexible to meet the demands of the business
