Customer Account Operator
Our client are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Customer Account Operator to join their team in the transport industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and growing key customer accounts, ensuring the seamless coordination of container transport services, and acting as a strategic liaison between clients and internal operations teams.
As Customer Account Operator, you will be tasked to manage day-to-day operations and customer relationships within the container logistics sector, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery across all touchpoints.
Key Details:
- Working hours: 07:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday. The candidate should also be contactable outside of these hours in case of any operational issues.
- Salary range: £30,000 – £34,000 DOE
Key Responsibilities:
- Account management: Manage a portfolio of existing clients in the container logistics sector, ensuring exceptional service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Customer relationship building: Develop long-term relationships with key decision-makers, understand their business needs, and provide tailored transport solutions.
- Operational coordination: Liaise with customers, operations, and port authorities to ensure timely collection and delivery of containers.
- Problem resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for client issues, troubleshooting problems quickly and effectively to maintain service integrity.
- Performance monitoring: Monitor service delivery KPIs and compliance with customer contracts or SLAs.
- Sales support: Collaborate with the commercial team to identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling additional transport services.
- Reporting: Prepare regular performance reports for customers and internal stakeholders, highlighting service metrics and improvement areas.
- Billing & documentation: Ensure accurate billing, documentation, and administrative follow-up on transport movements and related charges.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in account management or customer service within the container or transport industry (road, rail, or intermodal experience is a plus).
- Strong understanding of logistics operations, port processes, and container transport regulations.
- Knowledge of shipping line practices, port procedures, and container depot operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Proficiency in transport management systems, MS Office Suite, and CRM platforms.
- High level of organisational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail, especially in documentation and compliance.
- Driving licence essential due to travel requirement.
