Customs Operations Manager

Location: Dover, Kent
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 basic (dependent on experience) + contributory pension
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:30

The Opportunity

An established and growing logistics and customs services organisation is seeking an experienced Customs Operations Manager to lead and develop its customs clearance function. This is a senior operational role offering real influence over team performance, operational efficiency, and commercial growth.

You will manage a skilled team, oversee day-to-day customs operations, and play a key role in driving process improvements, compliance, and business development within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and motivate a team of customs clearance professionals

• Oversee daily customs operations with a hands-on approach

• Manage operational performance and drive efficiency improvements

• Take responsibility for Profit and Loss within the function

• Identify and implement process and service improvements

• Manage key client accounts and stakeholder relationships

• Support business development across existing and new clients

• Prepare and calculate quotations

• Ensure regulatory and compliance standards are maintained

• Contribute to facilities and operational management

• Participate in regular management and operational meetings

Experience and Skills Required

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in customs clearance

• Proven people management experience

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities

• Good IT skills (Microsoft Office suite)
