Driver Trainer

HGV Class 1 Driver Trainer – Manchester – Up to £35,000

Job Overview:

Supporting the Driver Administrator and working as part of the training team, you will be responsible for delivering driver training requirements and helping meet our commitment to Driver CPC under our JAUPT-approved training scheme. The role focuses on ensuring best practice in driving standards, safety, and operational efficiency across our driver workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver Driver CPC training in line with JAUPT-approved training scheme requirements
• Assess HGV drivers and provide practical on-the-road training to maintain high driving standards
• Promote and train drivers in defensive driving techniques, fuel efficiency, and correct use of vehicles and trailers
• Provide both one-to-one coaching and classroom-based training for groups of drivers
• Work closely with the Driver Administrator and wider training team to coordinate training schedules around driver workloads
• Evaluate driver performance and identify areas for improvement
• Complete confidential electronic training reports and assessments
• Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with company and industry standards
• Support continuous improvement of driver skills, safety, and operational best practice

Skills & Experience:

• Highly experienced HGV1 Driver Trainer with strong knowledge of container transport and distribution operations
• Experience in driver assessment and training (desirable but not essential – training can be provided)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to assess training needs and deliver clear, effective instruction
• Confident using IT systems to complete electronic reports and documentation
• Flexible approach to working hours to align with operational driver schedules
