We are recruiting for an experienced European Road Freight Manager to join a well-established and highly regarded global freight forwarder based in Leeds.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong European road freight forwarding experience who is looking to take ownership of key accounts, manage a small team and join a growing logistics business with an excellent reputation in the market.

The role has become available due to continued growth and would suit a confident freight forwarding professional with strong operational, commercial and customer management skills.

The Role

As European Road Freight Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing European road freight operations, managing key customer accounts and leading a small operational team.

You will work closely with customers, hauliers, overseas partners and internal departments to ensure freight is moved efficiently, profitably and to a high standard of service.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and develop key European road freight accounts
• Lead, support and motivate a small freight operations team
• Oversee European groupage, part-load and full-load movements
• Ensure customer requirements are met and service levels are maintained
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and overseas partners
• Handle operational queries, escalations and problem-solving
• Monitor workloads, performance and team output
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, service and margins
• Work closely with senior management to support business growth

Requirements

• Previous experience in European road freight forwarding
• Strong knowledge of European road freight operations
• Experience managing key accounts
• Team leader, supervisor or management experience is desirable
• Experience working for a freight forwarder is essential
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Commercially aware with good problem-solving ability
• Organised, proactive and able to work in a fast-paced freight environment
