Fleet and Compliance Manager – Waste Management

Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 (DOE)

Location: Portsmouth, UK

Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week

Are you an experienced Fleet Manager or Compliance Manager with a background in HGV maintenance and Transport Operations, looking for a new opportunity? This role could be right for you.

My client is looking for an experienced individual to manage their HGV and commercial vehicle fleet, ensuring vehicle compliance, maintenance and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have previous HGV fleet management experience, alongside a technical or workshop background. Experience within the Waste Management or Transport industry would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the maintenance and compliance of approximately 39 HGVs and 30 commercial vehicles.
• Oversee servicing, PMIs, MOTs, inspections and vehicle defect management.
• Coordinate repairs, breakdowns and maintenance with external workshops and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with DVSA regulations and Operator Licence requirements.
• Monitor fleet costs, vehicle downtime and operational efficiency.
• Work closely with Transport Managers, drivers and operational teams.

Requirements:

• Previous HGV Fleet Management or Fleet Controller experience.
• HGV workshop or technical background, ideally NVQ Level 3 or ex-technician.
• Knowledge of HGV maintenance, DVSA regulations and Operator Licence compliance.
• Experience managing maintenance schedules, suppliers and fleet costs.
• Good organisational, communication and IT skills.
• CPC National Road Haulage qualification would be advantageous.
