Location: National
Reports to: Fleet Director
Package: Up to £105,000 per year (Salary + Car Allowance + Bonus)

About the Role

We are seeking a Head of Fleet to lead vehicle and trailer operations, driving fleet strategy, compliance, sustainability, and cost efficiency. This senior hands-on role will oversee maintenance, supplier performance, and continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver the fleet strategy to support business growth
• Drive the transition to electric and alternative-fuel vehicles
• Oversee vehicle and trailer maintenance, ensuring safety and compliance
• Manage total cost of ownership (TCO) across the fleet lifecycle
• Monitor performance and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service
• Build strong relationships with OEMs and maintenance suppliers
• Use telematics and fleet systems to analyse performance and drive improvements
• Ensure Operator Licence compliance and implement DVSA best practices
• Lead projects, implement policies, and maintain fleet documentation
• Develop and manage the fleet team, including performance reviews and coaching

Requirements

Essential:

• HGV Repair & Maintenance qualification
• Transport Manager CPC
• Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, compliance, and safety standards
• Commercial and financial awareness
• Understanding of alternative vehicle technologies
• Experience delivering strategic plans and budgets
• Proven leadership and team engagement skills
• Willingness to travel, including overnight stays

Desirable:

• Professional registration
• Experience with fleet improvement or transformation initiatives
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
