Import Operator

Main Purpose of the Role

Our client are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Import Coordinator to join their dynamic import team. The successful candidate will manage shipments from Europe to UK customers using an established road-freight network and liaise with internal UK warehousing and distribution teams. This role is critical in ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods while maintaining excellent customer service standards.

Hours: Monday to Friday – 09:00 to 17:00

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate import shipments from Europe to the UK using the existing transport and distribution network.
• Communicate with depots across the UK and Europe to meet delivery requirements.
• Provide high-quality customer service, including responding to enquiries and updating customers on shipments.
• Manage shipment bookings via the online platform and email.
• Book deliveries with UK delivery points and communicate with warehouse and distribution teams for load scheduling.
• Use the Transport Management System to issue loading/offloading instructions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company procedures.
• Handle administration tasks such as invoicing, claims, filing, POD (Proof of Delivery) management, and general enquiries.
• Liaise with internal departments and other offices to report discrepancies and address specific requirements.

Requirements:

• Experience in Road freight for a UK based freight forwarder/Logistics company
• Sponsorship is not on offer, so successful candidate must have right to work in the UK
• Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail.
• Positive outlook and a clear focus on delivering high-quality work.
• Organised, punctual, and capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to contribute positively to a skilled team and offer creative solutions to challenges.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and independently.
