Location: Manchester, Salford
Salary: £27,000 – £32,000
Job Type: Full-Time / Permanent
We are working with a well-established and respected freight forwarding business seeking an experienced Import Operator to join their growing Manchester team. This is an excellent opportunity for an import professional looking to work in a structured, supportive environment with strong long-term benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaising with customers and overseas agents
- Managing general import enquiries, including arrival notices and split requests
- Quoting for, arranging, and overseeing customs clearance and final delivery
- Resolving invoice queries efficiently
- Creating and managing container load plans within CargoWise
- Producing and handling Outturn Reports
- Managing Full Container Load (FCL) shipments
- Arranging container and cargo releases
- Raising invoices and ensuring timely collection of outstanding charges
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in an Import Operator role within freight forwarding
- Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to adapt to new systems, processes, and working practices
- Confident communicator with excellent organisational skills
- Experience using CargoWise One (CW1) is highly desirable
