Project Engineer – Industrial Refrigeration
Working for a market-leading business in the industrial refrigeration industry, this project engineering role will see you working on a variety of projects including complex factory plant rooms, aircraft carriers, laboratories and everything in between that requires process cooling – all over the UK. You will act as the primary technical lead for all design-related technical engineered solutions, supporting the technical development of process cooling solutions from initial feasibility through to final completion.
Suitable for project engineers, mechanical engineers, applications engineers, quality engineers, research engineers, design engineers or mechanical engineers who possess a high level of process cooling knowledge and are capable of managing industrial refrigeration projects from cradle to grave. Package:
- £50,000 to £70,000 depending on experience
- £5000 car allowance

Responsibilities:
- Design and develop industrial refrigeration systems that meet client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis to determine the most effective refrigeration solutions.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to understand project specifications and ensure successful project execution.
- Create detailed engineering designs, including equipment selection, piping layouts, control systems, and electrical requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to source high-quality components and materials for projects.
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and testing of refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project deadlines.
- Conduct performance evaluations and troubleshooting of existing refrigeration systems, recommending improvements and modifications as needed.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stay abreast of industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices in industrial refrigeration.
Requirements:
- Formal engineering qualifications such as a degree or diploma
- Working knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) and BS EN378
- Proven experience in designing and managing industrial refrigeration projects.
- Proficiency in utilizing design software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- In-depth knowledge of ammonia and CO2 refrigeration principles, systems, and components.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Project management abilities, including the capacity to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage resources efficiently.
- Willingness to travel to client sites and oversee project implementation as required.
- Professional certifications in refrigeration engineering or related fields are highly desirable.
