Machinist/Fitter

I’m recruiting a Machinist to join a leading electromechanical services provider, My client has grown from 2 employees to 64 and now has branches across South West England, Leicester and Wales. This would be a great opportunity for someone to join a rapidly growing company with plenty of progression.

The Role

Operates machine tools but also has the knowledge of tooling and materials required to create set ups on machine tools such as milling machines, grinders, lathes and drilling machines.

• Operates and maintains lathe and milling machines.
• Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
• Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
• Read and interpret CAD drawings in order to select correct machinery.
• Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Carry out inspection of finished products.
• Maintains safe operation of equipment by adhering to safety protocols and regulations..
• Completes calculations quickly, such as dimensions and tolerances of material.
• Monitor precision equipment.
• To be available for call out shift or overtime as directed by the Workshop Manager.
• Ability to read blueprints and measuring devices such as callipers, micrometres and vernier.

• You
• Proven experience in engineering/manufacturing background.
• Experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly.
• Knowledge of speeds and feeds.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and PPE.
• Experience using variety of materials e.g. steel, aluminium and plastic.
• Good literacy and maths skills.
• Attention to detail with good communications skills.
• Good time keeping skills are essential.
