M&E Quantity Surveyor

My client is a highly respected and established M&E contractor specialising in delivering top-quality mechanical and electrical services for a diverse range of projects. From commercial and industrial developments to residential complexes and institutional facilities, they pride themselves on their commitment to excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction. Due to a track record of successful project delivery, they are looking to grow their commercial team with the addition of a M&E Quantity Surveyor

This is suitable for someone who is already in the role of Quantity Surveyor, working in the construction industry, ideally within a mechanical and electrical contractor. Also suitable for Junior Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors looking to make the step-up

Package:

• £60,000 depending on experience
• £5000 car allowance
• 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
• Full time, permanent position
• 33 days holiday
• Private health insurance

Responsibilities:

• Conduct detailed cost analysis, prepare accurate quantity take-offs, and estimate material, labor, and equipment costs for M&E projects
• Collaborate with the design team to review project specifications, identify cost-saving opportunities, and propose value engineering solutions
• Prepare and submit comprehensive tender documents, including bills of quantities, pricing schedules, and contractual documentation
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, negotiate pricing, and manage the procurement process to ensure cost competitiveness and compliance
• Develop and maintain project budgets, monitoring costs, and identifying and mitigating potential risks or deviations
• Perform cost forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial reporting to support effective project decision-making
• Collaborate with project managers to review and negotiate change orders, variations, and claims, ensuring proper documentation and cost control
• Conduct regular site visits and liaise with site teams to assess progress, validate quantities, and manage cost implications of site activities
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring effective communication and resolving any commercial issues
• Stay updated with industry standards, regulations, and market trends, applying them to enhance cost management practices

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the M&E contracting industry, with a focus on mechanical and electrical systems
• Strong knowledge of M&E systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related components
• Proficiency in quantity surveying techniques, cost estimation, and contract administration
• Excellent understanding of construction methods, project controls, and industry regulations
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with acute attention to detail
• Proficient in using quantity surveying software and tools, such as CostX, Bluebeam, or similar applications
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships
• Relevant qualifications in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field preferred
