Mechanical Design Engineer – £36,000 – £53,000 (DOE) – Cumbria

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer looking for your next move? Due to organic growth within the department, I am seeking a Design Engineer with a good understanding of engineering calculations (Hand calcs), who has designed special purpose machinery, mechanical assemblies, processing equipment or similar. You maybe recently graduated or have several years experience, all candidates will be considered.

The Package:

• Salary – £36,000 – £53,000 (DOE)
• 37 hours a week Monday-Thursday 08:30-17:00 and Friday 08:30-16:30
• Private health care
• Pension 6% company contribution
• 25 days holiday + bank holidays
• Death in service 4x annual salary
• Hybrid working available – 2 days from home and 3 days in the office

The Role:

• To produce engineering designs and associated engineering documents such as drawings, calculations and reports.
• To issue engineering documents as required.
• To progress small and medium sized engineering projects, as allocated or working as part of a team on larger projects.
• Project work, in addition to design, will include all aspects of the design process such as draughting and testing of products, as well as other organizational tasks appropriate.
• Substantiation / validation of design output.

Required Skills

• Must have experience using software such as SolidWorks and CAD / Autocad
• Must have good engineering calculations ability. (Hans calcs, Ansys, FEA experience).
• Experience of machine design, e.g. food processing, packaging machinery, medical equipment, ROV, remote handling equipment or similar would be advantageous.
• Will have ideally worked in a highly regulated industry in the past such as nuclear, oil & gas, defense, pharmaceutical or similar.
