Overview

My client is a leading engineering and construction specialist delivering complex, large-scale projects across Europe, with particular expertise in mission-critical environments such as data centres. Operating across the full project lifecycle, the business provides integrated mechanical and electrical solutions from design through to commissioning.

Due to continued growth, my client is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join its Dublin-based pre-construction team.

Role Summary

The Mechanical Estimator will support the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical packages on high-value projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing estimator to gain experience across the full tender lifecycle while contributing to the successful delivery of major projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of mechanical cost estimates for a range of projects
• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to understand project scope
• Support the tender process, including issuing subcontractor enquiries
• Obtain and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Contribute to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
• Help prepare bid submissions and supporting documentation
• Collaborate with senior estimators, design, and commercial teams
• Maintain accurate records of pricing and project data
• Support continuous improvement within the estimating function

Candidate Profile

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline
• 2-5 years’ experience in a mechanical estimating or building services role
• Some exposure to construction or M&E projects (internships/placements considered)
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, pipework, etc.)
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (estimating software experience is advantageous)
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Salary & Benefits Package

• Base Salary: €45,000 – €65,000 (depending on experience)
• Bonus: Discretionary performance-related bonus
• Annual Leave: 25 days + public holidays
• Car Allowance: €2,000 – €4,000 per annum (or travel support)
