Mechanical Technician – Machinist – Mechanical Engineer

I’m recruiting a multi-skilled, mechanically biased engineer to join a manufacturer of high-value special-purpose capital equipment in Cambridge in this unique opportunity and varied hands-on engineering vacancy.

Working alongside a senior engineer the role is a hands-on and varied challenge.

You may be a machinist looking for more variety, a multi-skilled engineer looking to apply all of their skills or a mechanical technician from a similar environment.

Due to the varied nature of this position, someone is expected to possess only some of the required skills. A breadth of engineering knowledge and skills is required. You will be experienced in the following roles: mechanical technician, welding engineer, mechanical test engineer, mechanical fitter, welder, machinist, toolmaker, mechanical assembler or similar.

The Role

• Preparation of large metal surfaces and components for welding
• A varied and hands-on practical role which will test and challenge your engineering skills
• Machining of new parts and components
• Welding and finishing
• Will include occasional UK and overseas travel

You

• Must have a solid practical engineering skill set, you may have a background in machining, machine tool assembly, machinery fitting, machining or similar practical engineering fields.
• You will be a strong problem solver and enjoy identifying engineered solutions.
• Previous experience may be as a mechanical fitter, tool maker, machine tool fitter, machine builder, technical assembler, welder, manual and CNC machinist.
• Likely to be apprentice trained or qualified in welding, machining, toolmaker, and fitting.

Package

• Salary to £38,000
• 38 basic weekly hours working within/between the hours 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday
• 27 days holiday plus all public holidays.
