Ocean & Air Freight Coordinator – Lichfield – Up to £32,000 plus bonus

As Ocean & Air Freight Coordinator, you will be tasked to further develop our client’s sea and air freight offering with both existing and new customers, while increasing business from existing, lapsed, and recently gained clients. The role focuses on providing excellent customer service, ensuring repeat business and client retention. You will be responsible for operational activities aligned with company goals, ensuring targets/KPIs are met year on year and delivering high-quality standards consistently.

Your primary responsibility will be handling daily operational tasks for Sea & Air freight, alongside quoting, negotiating, and securing sea and air freight business with existing clients.

Hours: Monday to Friday – 08:30am to 17:30pm

Day-to-day:

• Organise the transportation of goods for both Air and Sea imports and exports, ensuring cost-effective and efficient services.
• Handle import/export services from start to finish, including quotations, bookings, and necessary documentation.
• Negotiate rates with carriers/suppliers and manage client relationships, working closely with internal departments, overseas agents, and shipping lines.
• Monitor live shipments and provide high levels of customer service, solving issues as they arise.
• Use our CRM and TMS system effectively, and identify new sales opportunities from existing clients.
• Assist in developing a preferred list of Sea & Air carriers, ensuring competitive rates and strong supplier relationships.
• Support marketing efforts, including client calls and promotional campaigns, and help cross-sell services from other departments (e.g., European Road, European Express, UK, and Customs).
• Visit clients to strengthen relationships and ensure their freight needs are met.

Requirements for the role:

• At least 2-3 years of experience in Air and Ocean import/export within a UK freight forwarding environment.
• Based in the UK and have the right to work (No sponsorship is available)
• Strong knowledge of freight procedures, documentation, and Incoterms.
• Commercial acumen with excellent negotiation skills to grow the customer base and build lasting relationships with carriers and clients.
• Ability to train and share knowledge with the team, as well as attract work (both LCL and FCL).
• Ability to work independently under pressure and manage tight deadlines with a flexible, adaptable approach.
