Position: Ocean Freight Operations Manager

Location: Southampton

Hours: Monday – Friday. 09:00 – 17:30

Salary: up to £35,000

We are recruiting for our client, an international freight forwarder, who provides ocean and air forwarding, project logistics, warehousing, customs clearance services and aircraft and ship charters.

We seek an experienced Ocean Freight Operations Manager to oversee the end-to-end operations and successful execution of all sea freight imports and exports. The ideal candidate should have solid experience in ocean freight and a strong background in customs clearance. Air Freight operational knowledge is not essential, but an advantage

Your key responsibilities as an Ocean Freight Operations Manager:

• Manage and lead a team of 10 professionals to ensure efficient and effective ocean freight operations
• General day-to-day running of UK sea freight office including warehouse/health and safety/office maintenance/holidays etc
• Handle import & export consignments for via sea freight
• Monitor and analyse operational performance and implement continuous improvement
• Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction
• Overseeing team performance and providing guidance and support as needed
• Collaborate with customs brokers and other authorities to ensure compliance with regulations
• Maintaining a strong focus on health and safety practices to ensure a secure working environment for all team members

Requirements:

• Proven experience in ocean freight operations, customs clearance, and international trade regulations
• Air freight knowledge is an advantage
• Previous experience as an ocean freight operations manager
• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team
• Be able to communicate effectively with clients, suppliers and wider team
• Develop trust and respect from colleagues & clients
• Identify problems early & respond in a timely fashion
