Location: Birmingham

Salary £32,000 (Negotiable)

Hours: Mon-Fri – 9:00-17:30

We are seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Operator to join our dynamic and friendly team based in Birmingham offices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ocean freight operations, with a focus on imports and exports. This position offers the opportunity for career progression, with successful candidates fast-tracked to a supervisor role.

Ocean Freight Operator Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the full life cycle of the ocean freight process from origin to final delivery
• Coordinate & arrange shipments (FCL & LCL) for import and export
• Liaise with shipping lines and negotiate rates
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations for imports and exports via CDS
• Communicate with carriers, suppliers, and customers to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation
• Handle documentation, including bill of lading, shipping instructions, and customs clearance paperwork
• Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any issues that arise
• Collaborate with internal teams to optimize processes and improve efficiency

Experience required:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in ocean freight operations
• Strong understanding of the import and export process
• Proven ability to handle the full life cycle of freight operations from start to finish
• Experience with customs clearances for imports and exports via CDS
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
