Ocean Import Coordinator

Ocean Freight Coordinator – Witham – Up to £40,000

Our client, a well-established and expanding freight forwarder, is seeking an experienced Import Freight Operator to join their growing team in Witham. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional with a solid background in freight forwarding to become part of a busy and supportive Import LCL department.

Job type: Permanent

Package & Hours

• Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 (depending on experience)
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm (08:00am – 05:00pm also an option)
• Holidays: 20 days annual leave + bank holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage import shipments across sea, air, and road freight.
• Liaise effectively with overseas offices, agents, and partners to ensure smooth shipment handling.
• Manage end-to-end shipment files, maintaining accuracy, compliance, and efficiency throughout.
• Raise sales and purchase invoices and maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
• Update and manage client bookings, rates, and shipment details within shared systems.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
• Resolve queries and complaints promptly and professionally, in line with company policy.

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience in import freight forwarding for a UK based forwarder, experience in LCL operations.
• Strong understanding of international shipping documentation and procedures.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Confident using freight management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
