Job Title: Deep Sea Import Operator

Location: Manchester, M34
Salary: £36,000
Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00-17:20pm (rota options from 8:00-16:30 after probation)

About the Role

We are seeking a Deep Sea Import Operator to join our busy freight forwarding team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong experience in import operations who can manage the full lifecycle of shipments and deliver excellent service to clients.

You will be responsible for handling shipments from initial quotation through to delivery, ensuring all processes run smoothly and efficiently.

• Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm.
• Flexible Rota: Option to work 8:00 am – 4:30 pm available after successful probation and once fully familiar with the department.
• Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata from start date).

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end import shipments, including full customs compliance and documentation.
• Prepare competitive quotations and pricing solutions for clients.
• Negotiate rates with agents, shipping lines, and hauliers to secure the best terms.
• Create bookings and issue Bills of Lading (BOLs).
• Track shipments and provide timely updates to clients and internal teams.
• Liaise with overseas agents, carriers, and internal departments to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintain accurate records and system updates throughout the shipment process.

Requirements

• Proven experience in deep sea import operations within freight forwarding.
• Strong knowledge of customs procedures and documentation.
• Experience in pricing, rate negotiation, and client quotation.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Proficiency in freight forwarding systems and Microsoft Office
