Position: Operations Planner
Location: Exeter
Hours: Monday-Friday, 05:45-15:45
Salary: £28,500

About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and organised individual to join our clients’ team in Exeter in a dual-capacity role. As Operations Planner, you’ll support the day-to-day management of our transport logistics-overseeing driver schedules, fleet coordination, and ensuring seamless freight operations to and from local agents and airports. You’ll also step in as a relief delivery driver when needed, transporting goods nationwide.

Key Responsibilities as an Operations Planner:

Your daily tasks will be varied and will include (but are not limited to):

• Efficiently handling inbound phone calls, ensuring quick and professional responses

• Supporting customer service by addressing client requirements

• Manually planning drivers’ routes, schedules and daily plans

• Coordinating deliveries and identifying any potential service improvements

• Assisting with vehicle loading/unloading and securing freight safely

• Carrying out scheduled deliveries, maintaining journey logs, and monitoring vehicle performance

• Performing minor vehicle maintenance and reporting faults

• Building strong working relationships with team members and supporting leadership objectives

• Adhering to company protocols, especially those aligned with BSI/ISO standards

• Complying with all Health & Safety and Aviation Security regulations

What we’re looking for:

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in transport or logistics operations

• Have a good knowledge of the local area, including the ability to route drivers manually

• A working knowledge of Level D Aviation Security and Hazardous Goods Awareness

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Confidence in reading instructions and completing routine paperwork

• A valid driving licence, with no DD, CT, DD, IN10, TT endorsement codes
