Role: Project Engineer Heavy Machinery
Location: Studley, Warwickshire
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 DOE
Hours: 40 hours per week
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

An established engineering business specialising in heavy transport, lifting and complex installation projects is looking for an experienced Project Engineer Heavy Machinery to join its engineering team.

This is a varied role combining design engineering, project planning and technical documentation, supporting projects from the initial concept through to successful site delivery.

You will develop practical engineering solutions for projects ranging from short-term site requirements through to large, multi-year programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design practical engineering solutions for heavy transport, lifting and installation projects.
• Produce technical drawings, engineering calculations and rigging studies.
• Prepare RAMS, risk assessments and method statements.
• Select appropriate equipment for individual projects.
• Produce 2D AutoCAD drawings and supporting technical documentation.
• Liaise with clients, site teams and internal departments throughout project delivery.
• Assess project resource, equipment and technical requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering, safety and temporary works standards.
• Provide engineering support from initial concept through to site execution.
• Assist with the planning and delivery of complex lifting, transport and installation projects.

Skills and experience

• Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural or Naval Architecture Engineering.
• Good understanding of engineering principles and design calculations.
• Basic proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.
• Strong technical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project engineering environment.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Experience

• Appointed Person (AP) qualification.
• HSEQ qualification.
• Experience with FEM or other engineering modelling software.
• Previous experience within heavy lifting, heavy transport, cranes, rigging, temporary works or complex installation projects.
