Regional Transport Manager – Waste
Fareham | £45,000-£60,000 + Bonus + Car Allowance

Are you an experienced Transport Manager with a strong background in commercial waste and fleet operations? Do you have the commercial awareness to improve performance, control costs and get the best out of a team?

We’re looking for a commercially minded Regional Transport Manager to oversee transport operations across multiple sites in the Fareham area. This is a hands-on leadership role combining fleet compliance, operational efficiency, financial management and team development, with the opportunity to influence performance and support business growth.

The Role

• Take ownership of transport performance across multiple sites, ensuring operations run safely, efficiently and within budget.

• Lead fleet management and compliance, ensuring vehicles are maintained effectively and all Operator Licence obligations are met.

• Oversee vehicle utilisation, driver resource planning and operational capacity to maximise productivity and minimise unnecessary costs.

• Manage operational budgets, monitor expenditure and identify opportunities to improve margins and financial performance.

• Lead and develop transport and operational teams, setting clear objectives and maintaining high standards of accountability.

• Monitor key performance indicators covering service delivery, customer satisfaction, productivity and cost control.

• Identify and implement improvements to transport processes, systems and working practices.

• Ensure transport and waste operations meet relevant legal, safety and environmental requirements.

• Build effective relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors and other key stakeholders.

• Work closely with senior management to review performance, address challenges and deliver operational objectives.

• Identify opportunities to improve service levels, strengthen customer relationships and support regional business growth.

• Provide accurate management reports and updates on operational performance, costs and improvement initiatives.

About You

• Previous experience in a Transport Manager, Regional Transport Manager or senior transport operations role.

• A background in commercial waste management is essential.

• A valid Transport Manager CPC.

• Strong knowledge of fleet management, transport legislation and Operator Licence compliance.

• Experience managing budgets, controlling costs and improving operational performance.

• Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance and develop people.

• Commercially aware, with a practical approach to improving efficiency and profitability.

• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.

• A good understanding of waste management operations and relevant environmental regulations.

• IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH would be advantageous.

• A Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification, or equivalent experience.
