A well-established UK and European road freight operator is continuing to invest in its groupage capability and is now looking to appoint an experienced Road Freight Groupage Manager to lead a small but expanding team in Pontefract.

This is a key operational role for a groupage specialist who enjoys building structure, improving efficiency, and taking ownership of a developing department. You’ll be central to shaping processes, supporting growth, and ensuring consistently high service levels.

The Role

• Lead and develop a small road freight groupage team

• Oversee daily planning and execution of groupage movements across UK and European lanes

• Manage consolidation, routing, and capacity to ensure cost-effective operations

• Act as the primary escalation point for service, operational, and customer issues

• Build strong working relationships with hauliers, partners, and overseas agents

• Implement procedures and best practices to support departmental growth

• Monitor operational performance, costs, and service KPIs

• Work closely with senior stakeholders to drive continuous improvement

The Ideal Candidate

• Solid background in road freight groupage operations

• Experience supervising or managing a small operational team

• Strong knowledge of groupage planning, consolidation, and European road networks

• Confident handling operational challenges and competing priorities

• Commercially aware with a practical, solutions-led mindset
