Overview

My client is a leading mechanical engineering and building services contractor delivering complex, high-value projects across sectors such as data centres, pharmaceuticals, commercial, and industrial developments.

Due to continued growth, my client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join their pre-construction team. This role will be responsible for leading the preparation of accurate, competitive tenders and supporting the commercial success of major projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of detailed mechanical cost estimates, including labour, materials, plant, and subcontract packages
• Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
• Manage the full tender lifecycle, from initial enquiry through to final submission
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
• Collaborate with design, commercial, and project teams during pre-construction
• Support bid strategy and contribute to client engagement activities
• Mentor and guide junior estimators within the team

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline
• 5-10+ years’ experience in mechanical estimating within an M&E or building services environment
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, pipework, and mechanical systems
• Proven experience delivering accurate estimates on large-scale projects
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and estimating software

Salary & Benefits

Base Salary:

• €85,000 – €100,000

• Annual Leave: 25 days + public holidays
• Car Allowance: €6,000 – €8,000 per annum (or company vehicle)
