Position: Senior Ocean Import Operator
Location: Essex
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (negotiable)
Hours: Mon – Fri 9am-17:30
Senior Ocean Import Role:
Providing a valuable service in our Ocean Freight department, to organise the safe, efficient and cost-effective transportation of goods for Deep Sea Imports.
Key roles & responsibilities
- Handling FCL and LCL imports from the Far East and other origins on a start/finish basis
- Providing a high level of customer service at all times and building good business relationships with clients
- Liaising with customers, overseas agents and shipping lines
- Booking in jobs on the in-house system (Azyra)
- Arranging clearances/entries
- Dealing with any clearance queries/problems and resolving to minimise delays
- Arranging deliveries
- Keeping customers advised and updated at all stages of the import process
- Invoicing and administration
- Handling import quotations
- Any duties/tasks as requested by your Line Manager or a Director
Knowledge & Experience
- Extensive Ocean Import experience
- A good knowledge of Ocean Import procedures and documentation
- Ability to complete customs entries
- Basic knowledge of exports
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work to deadlines with accuracy
- Ability to work well within a small team and use own initiative
- Computer literate
- Flexible and adaptable attitude with a willingness to learn new skills
