Position: Specialist Haulage Transport Planner

Location: Southampton

Hours: Monday to Friday – Rotating shift pattern (starting between 6am-9am)

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 + bonus

Our client seeks an experienced Specialist Haulage Planner to join their strong and reputable team. Our client, founded over 30 years ago, employs over 600 staff and operates from 4 strategically located facilities.

This role is for planning Out-of-gauge movements (wide, long, high loads), Curtainside vehicles, Flatbed and Low loaders. So the ideal candidate will need to have solid knowledge and proven experience in this specialist area of transport planning.

Your key responsibilities as a Specialist Haulage Transport Planner:

• Plan and coordinate the transportation of oversized and out-of-gauge cargo shipments
• Plan and coordinate Flatbed, Low loaders and Curtainside vehicles
• Routing and scheduling vehicles efficiently and effectively to optimise fleet utilisation
• Obtain necessary permits and approvals for transporting oversized cargo
• Develop cost-effective transport solutions while ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards
• Proven knowledge of geographical routes and driver regulations in the UK
• Dispatching and debriefing drivers
• Solid WTD knowledge
• Hands on coordination of emergency response and resolution of road incidents
• Liaising with customers and colleagues to ensure the operation runs smoothly and cost-effectively
• Completing all administration tasks and dealing with infringements, so good attention to detail is required to ensure the accuracy of information
• Maintaining company policies and procedures

Requirements:

• Proven experience in handling oversized and Out of Gauge cargo – ESSENTIAL
• Proven experience planning Flatbed and low loader vehicles
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and permit requirements
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to prioritise workload
• TOPS – Highly desirable
• HIAB Planning advantageous
• Container planning desirable, (booking VBS slots, arranging the release, collection and delivery of containers)
• HIAB Planning advantageous
