Business Development Manager – Freight & Commodity Logistics

$120,000 + Car Allowance + Commission

Overview

We are seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager to develop new business opportunities and grow revenue across the North East region. This role will focus on securing new accounts within the freight, commodities, and supply chain sectors, while managing key client relationships and supporting strategic sales initiatives aligned with business growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities while maintaining and expanding existing customer accounts
  • Develop relationships with clients operating within commodity trading, manufacturing, agriculture, and industrial sectors
  • Prepare and negotiate bids, RFQs, and commercial quotations with customers, carriers, and overseas partners
  • Manage and grow a designated sales territory to achieve and exceed revenue targets
  • Identify opportunities across Air, Ocean, and multimodal freight solutions
  • Respond promptly to sales inquiries, leads, and customer requirements
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and deliver high levels of service and account management
  • Monitor market trends, commodity movements, and competitor activity within the logistics and freight sector
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular pipeline and sales reporting
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant freight forwarding and regulatory requirements

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience within International Freight Forwarding
  • Strong understanding of Air Freight, Ocean Freight, and global supply chain operations
  • Experience working with freight commodities, industrial cargo, or trade-focused customers is highly advantageous
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and relationship management skills
  • Strong knowledge of freight forwarding procedures, Incoterms, and logistics regulations
  • Results-driven with the ability to develop strategic customer partnerships
