Role: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina

Salary: Up to $85,000 depending on experience

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an engineering and manufacturing business in Spartanburg, SC.

This is an opportunity for a practical design engineer who enjoys developing mechanical components, assemblies and products, producing detailed CAD designs and working closely with manufacturing teams to bring designs to life.

Working across products manufactured from metal and plastic, you will contribute to design projects from initial concepts through to detailed drawings and production-ready designs.

Responsibilities include:

• Produce 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings and design documentation.
• Develop mechanical components, assemblies and product designs to meet project requirements.
• Work with metal and plastic materials across a variety of engineering applications.
• Apply design for manufacture principles to improve production efficiency, quality and cost.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs can be produced effectively.
• Support prototype development, design reviews and engineering modifications.
• Work with CNC machining, fabrication and other manufacturing processes where relevant.
• Review designs and resolve technical issues throughout the development process.
• Maintain accurate technical drawings and documentation.

Skills and experience

• Experience in mechanical design, CAD design or a similar engineering role.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and technical drawing.
• An understanding of mechanical components, assemblies and engineering principles.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture.
• Experience working with metal components, fabricated parts or plastic products.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to solve engineering problems.
• The ability to work collaboratively with engineering and manufacturing colleagues.
• A degree or technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design or a related discipline would be advantageous.
