Role: Product Engineer

Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina

Salary: Up to $90,000 depending on experience

An opportunity has arisen for a Product Engineer to join an established engineering and manufacturing business in Spartanburg, SC.

This role will suit a hands-on engineer with experience developing products from initial concept through to design, testing and production. Working with a range of metal and plastic components, you will help turn ideas into practical, manufacturable products while working closely with engineering, manufacturing and external suppliers.

The business combines in-house manufacturing capabilities with an international supply chain, offering exposure to a varied range of products, materials and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop and improve products from initial concept through to production.
• Create and modify 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Design components and assemblies using a range of metal and plastic materials.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective and suitable for production.
• Support prototyping, product testing, validation and design improvements.
• Liaise with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to support product development and production.
• Review product performance, identify design improvements and resolve technical issues.
• Work with internal teams to ensure products meet quality, performance and customer requirements.

Skills and experience:

• Experience in product engineering, mechanical engineering or product development.
• Strong 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawing skills.
• Experience designing mechanical components or assemblies.
• Knowledge of metal and/or plastic materials and manufacturing processes.
• An understanding of design for manufacture and assembly.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take a product from concept through to production.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work with internal teams and external suppliers.
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related discipline would be beneficial, alongside relevant practical industry experience.
