Senior Mechanical Project Engineer
My client is seeking an ambitious and technically strong Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to join their growing Building Services and M&E delivery team in Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile pharmaceutical, healthcare, data centre, life sciences, industrial, and commercial construction projects across Ireland.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of complex mechanical engineering projects, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, programme performance, and client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key project representative at client design, coordination, and progress meetings.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure full understanding of project scope and deliverables.
- Carry out detailed design reviews to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and best practice.
- Ensure mechanical building services installations are delivered in accordance with approved designs, project requirements, and programme schedules.
- Develop and implement engineering solutions, including technical calculations, design proposals, and construction methodologies.
- Review coordinated BIM models and construction drawings to identify clashes and optimise project delivery.
- Assess design revisions, identify scope changes and cost impacts, and communicate findings to project stakeholders.
- Manage procurement activities, including technical submittals, material approvals, and procurement schedules.
- Review specialist subcontractor and supplier packages to ensure compliance with design intent, project specifications, and industry regulations.
- Support project planning, commissioning activities, and handover processes.
- Prepare project-specific commissioning plans and ensure systems are delivered in accordance with client requirements.
- Review BCAR documentation and coordinate quality assurance activities with the project quality team.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, consultants, subcontractors, and clients throughout project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience in a Mechanical Project Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Building Services Engineer, or M&E Project Delivery role.
- Experience working on large-scale pharmaceutical, healthcare, data centre, industrial, commercial, or mission-critical projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, pipework, mechanical building services, and MEP systems.
- Experience working with BIM, coordinated services drawings, and construction documentation.
- Excellent project coordination, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of Irish building regulations, BCAR requirements, health & safety standards, and industry best practice.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within strict project deadlines.
