Ocean Freight Coordinator – Basildon – Up to £35,000

Our client, who is a dynamic and growing freight forwarding company specializing in international logistics are looking for an Ocean Freight Coordinator to join their team and play a key role in managing their export operations, ensuring smooth and timely deliveries for our clients across the globe.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage the end-to-end export process for global shipments, ensuring smooth delivery from origin to destination.
• Prepare and process all export documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
• Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and tariffs.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, and freight carriers to ensure on-time dispatch and delivery of goods.
• Negotiate rates and arrange transportation options (ocean, air, or road) for cost-effective and timely delivery.
• Track shipments and provide proactive updates to clients and internal teams on shipment status and potential delays.
• Resolve any issues related to shipments, customs clearance, or documentation to avoid delays.
• Support the sales and customer service teams with any logistics or shipping inquiries, ensuring excellent customer satisfaction.
• Monitor freight costs and work with finance and operations teams to ensure budget compliance.
• Maintain accurate records of export shipments, and handle any invoicing and payment processes.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in export coordination for a UK based freight forwarder.
• In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, shipping methods, and customs procedures.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• A good understanding of freight pricing and cost optimization strategies.
• Attention to detail and high accuracy in documentation handling.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle complex issues.
