Project Manager – Conveyors & Automation

Permanent | Full-Time | £40,000-£48,000 + Benefits

The Role

A growing engineering business is looking for an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of bespoke conveyor and automation projects from order handover through design, procurement, manufacture, FAT, installation, commissioning and customer sign-off.

This is a hands-on role involving project delivery, commercial control and customer management, with regular UK and European site travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage projects from contract award through to completion, ensuring delivery on time, to budget and specification.

• Build and manage project programmes, milestones and resources.

• Work closely with Design, Project Engineering, Assembly and Installation teams.

• Coordinate FAT, installation, commissioning and SAT.

• Manage project budgets, procurement, suppliers and subcontractors.

• Identify and manage variations and change requests.

• Act as the main point of contact for customers and lead progress meetings.

• Ensure RAMS, CDM and relevant health & safety requirements are met.

• Support the development of the wider Projects team.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience managing engineering projects within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

• Strong commercial awareness and experience delivering projects to programme and budget.

• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.

• Good knowledge of RAMS and CDM.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and stay away when required.

Desirable:

• Conveyor, materials handling, intralogistics or automation experience.

• Installation and commissioning experience.

• Formal project management qualification such as APM or PRINCE2.

• SMSTS, SSSTS or equivalent.

• Mechanical or electrical engineering background.

• European or international project experience.
