Quotations Clerk – Freight Forwarding

Location: Southport, UK

Job Type: Full-Time / 08:30 – 17:00 or 09:00 – 17:30 (Monday to Friday)

Salary: £27,000 – £31,000 (DOE)

A well-established and respected freight forwarding business with decades of industry experience is seeking an organised and commercially minded Quotations Clerk to join their team.

This is a key operational position that plays an essential role in ensuring the business remains competitive, responsive, and accurate when providing rates to both customers and international partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing accurate and timely quotations for FCL, LCL, air, and sea freight shipments.
• Maintaining current knowledge of market rates and competitor pricing.
• Managing and updating contract rates and communicating changes to customers.
• Using Excel spreadsheets with interactive formulas to store and update rates.
• Liaising with global offices and agents for inbound quotations to the UK.
• Obtaining haulage and shipping line costs from multiple suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
• Supporting internal teams with rate updates and customer queries.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Experience within freight forwarding quotations, pricing, or operations.
• Knowledge of import/export processes, FCL/LCL, and airfreight.
• Strong communication skills and confidence in liaising with overseas partners.
• Advanced Excel knowledge (formulas, live rate sheets, data accuracy).
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively under time pressure.
