Transport Operator
Transport Operator – Purfleet – Up to £30,000
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00-17:00, with flexibility to cover early/late shifts during annual leave.
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive Transport Operator to join our client’s busy transport team. You’ll coordinate daily vehicle movements, communicate with drivers and customers, and ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on time while maintaining high levels of customer service and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate UK distribution activities and vehicle movements.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers and internal teams.
- Assist with route planning and operational changes.
- Prepare transport documentation and complete general administration.
- Monitor deliveries and resolve operational issues.
- Maintain accurate records and produce reports/KPIs.
- Ensure compliance with Drivers’ Hours, transport legislation and Health & Safety requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Previous transport, logistics or distribution experience.
- Confident communicating with a wide variety of drivers over the phone.
- Quick to learn new systems, working across multiple transport platforms.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box.
- Accurate when recording and reporting information.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Good understanding of Drivers’ Hours and transport regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong organisational skills with a good level of IT literacy.
