Test Engineer / Quality Engineer
Tester/Quality Control Engineer – Mechanical/Electrical
My client is a leading electromechanical services provider for rotating equipment. They specialise in the repair and sourcing of pumps, motors, gearboxes, generators and power transmission components.
The role
Due to growth, My client currently have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Tester/Quality Control Engineer to join the busy workshop.
Main responsibilities and duties
- To perform and sign off on all quality checks and test operations using our IT system.
- To carry out in depth testing of stator windings.
- To monitor vibration and temperature.
- To perform load & off load testing.
- To measure & perform operation checks on motor auxiliary equipment.
- To use any equipment vital to test a motor (multi meters, Meggar, Baker tester, data collection).
Skills and experience:
- QA Tech, QC Assistant, Test Engineer, Quality Engineer, Quality Inspector, Testing Inspector
- Ability to set up motors, pumps & gearbox units to enable comprehensive testing.
- Ability and knowledge of working on three phase, single phase and AC/DC units.
- Ability to operate and test generators, transformers, and variable speed drives.
- Ability to understand and work from technical drawing and documentation when required.
- Understanding of both metric and imperial measurements.
- Knowledge of EMIR, Excel & Outlook.
- Knowledge of machine finishes & runout.
- A time served apprenticeship within the electric motor industry (desirable).
- 2-4 years of practical experience testing a wide range of electrical/mechanical equipment, including high voltage equipment (desirable).
