European Road Freight Business Development Manager

Are you an experienced European Road Freight sales professional looking to join a growing, Italian-owned freight forwarding business with a strong reputation across Europe?

We are recruiting for an ambitious and commercially focused Business Development Manager to drive new business growth across key European trade lanes, with a particular focus on Italy and Spain. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive sales professional with a proven track record in freight forwarding and road freight solutions.

The Role

As a European Road Freight BDM, you will be responsible for identifying, securing and developing new business opportunities across the UK market. Working closely with the operational teams in the UK and Europe, you will promote a range of international road freight services to customers within the retail and fashion sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Generating new business opportunities through prospecting, networking and client visits.
• Developing long-term relationships with importers, exporters, retailers and fashion brands.
• Selling European groupage, part-load and full-load road freight solutions.
• Focusing on key Italy and Spain trade lanes.
• Preparing competitive quotations and commercial proposals.
• Negotiating rates and service agreements.
• Managing the full sales cycle from lead generation through to account implementation.
• Working alongside operations teams to ensure a smooth customer onboarding process.
• Achieving and exceeding agreed sales targets.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a Road Freight Business Development or Freight Forwarding Sales role.
• Strong knowledge of European road freight services.
• Experience selling freight solutions on the Italian and/or Spanish trade lanes would be highly advantageous.
• Existing network of contacts within the retail and fashion sectors preferred.
• Proven track record of winning new business.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.
