Building Services Design Engineer

We’re recruiting a Building Services Design Engineer for a growing specialist HVAC and mechanical contractor based in Manchester.

This is a hands-on design role supporting commercial air conditioning, ventilation and mechanical projects from initial concept through to detailed design and project delivery.

The Role

• Produce mechanical and HVAC designs for commercial projects
• Carry out heat loss / heat gain calculations
• Size and select air conditioning, ventilation and mechanical plant
• Produce drawings, schematics and technical specifications
• Coordinate designs with project managers, estimators and site teams
• Review consultant drawings and client requirements
• Support technical submissions and equipment selections
• Assist with value engineering and design optimisation
• Attend design meetings and site surveys where required
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations

The Candidate

• Experience in Building Services, Mechanical or HVAC Design
• Strong understanding of:
  • Air conditioning
  • VRF / VRV
  • Ventilation
  • Mechanical building services
• Confident producing technical drawings and calculations
• Experience with AutoCAD and ideally Revit
• Good understanding of UK building regulations and industry standards
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Mechanical or Building Services qualification preferred

This is a strong opportunity for a Building Services Design Engineer who wants to work closely with both pre-construction and delivery teams, rather than being isolated in a purely consultancy environment.

Long-term progression into Senior Design Engineer, Design Manager or Technical Manager.
