Business Development Manager (Specification Sales – Renewable Heating & Energy Solutions)

We are currently partnering with a growing renewable heating and energy solutions distributor to recruit a Business Development Manager focused on specification-led sales across the Irish building services market.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded sales professional to join a business operating at the forefront of renewable heating, low-carbon technologies, and NZEB-compliant solutions, working closely with consultants, developers, and contractors across commercial and residential projects.
The Company
Our client is a well-established Irish business specialising in the design, specification, supply, and aftersales support of renewable and energy-efficient heating systems for both domestic and commercial markets.
Working with leading international manufacturers, they provide technical support and engineered solutions across technologies including:
- Heat pumps
- Commercial boilers
- Renewable heating systems
- Ventilation & energy recovery solutions
- Low-carbon building services systems
The business works closely with consulting engineers, developers, architects, and M&E contractors, supporting projects from early-stage specification through to delivery and commissioning.
The Role
As Business Development Manager, your primary focus will be on driving specification sales through consultants, developers, and key stakeholders within the building services sector.
This is a relationship-led, technically consultative role where you will work on securing product specifications at design stage, supporting projects through to successful order conversion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing relationships with consulting engineers, M&E consultants, developers, and contractors
- Driving specification of renewable and heating solutions into commercial and residential projects
- Managing projects from early-stage design through to order conversion
- Delivering technical presentations and CPD sessions to consultants and clients
- Supporting technical submissions, product selections, and compliance documentation
- Working closely with internal technical and design teams to support project delivery
- Identifying new market opportunities across NZEB and low-carbon developments
- Maintaining and developing a strong project pipeline
- Monitoring market trends, regulations, and emerging technologies within the renewable sector
The Candidate
We are looking for a commercially driven and technically capable individual with experience in specification sales within building services, HVAC, or renewable energy.
Essential:
- Proven experience in specification sales or technical business development
- Strong understanding of the Irish building services market
- Experience working with consultants, developers, and M&E contractors
- Strong technical and commercial communication skills
- Ability to manage long project sales cycles
- Full driving licence
Desirable:
- Background in renewable heating, HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems
- Engineering qualification (Mechanical / Building Services / Energy)
- Experience delivering CPDs or technical presentations
- Knowledge of NZEB regulations and low-carbon technologies
The Package
- €50,000 – €80,000 DOE
- 30% bonus
- 25 days holiday
