HVAC Applications Engineer

We are recruiting an Applications Engineer to join a specialist engineering manufacturer delivering bespoke air management and cooling solutions for commercial, industrial, and data-led environments.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering design, technical sales support, and project delivery, supporting clients with engineered solutions tailored to each application. Products are not off-the-shelf – every system is designed and applied on a project-by-project basis.

The Role
As an Applications Engineer, you will act as the technical link between customers, sales, and engineering teams. You’ll assess client requirements, develop compliant and efficient technical solutions, and support projects from enquiry through to order and delivery.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, customer engagement, and applied engineering, with long-term progression into senior technical or commercial roles.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Applications & Design
Analyse client requirements and system specifications to develop appropriate engineered solutions
Size and select air management, cooling, and ventilation systems for specific applications
Produce technical proposals, performance calculations, layouts, and supporting documentation
Ensure solutions meet regulatory, performance, and efficiency requirements

Client & Sales Support
Act as a technical point of contact for customers, consultants, and internal sales teams
Support pre-sales activity with technical input, value engineering, and solution optimisation
Respond to technical queries and provide clear, professional advice

Project & Engineering Coordination
Liaise with internal design, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure solutions are deliverable
Support order handover, ensuring all technical details are clearly defined
Assist with troubleshooting and technical clarification during delivery where required

About You

Qualifications & Experience
Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline
Experience in an applications engineering, technical sales, or design support role
Background in HVAC, ventilation, cooling, or air handling systems preferred
Comfortable interpreting drawings, specifications, and performance data

Confident communicator, able to explain technical concepts clearly
Commercially aware and solutions-focused
Proactive, adaptable, and keen to develop long-term within a business

Package:
Salary €50,000 – €80,000 depending on experience
21 days holiday plus bank holidays
7.5% pension
