Customs Operations Supervisor Overview

My client is looking for an experienced Customs Operations Supervisor to join their Feltham Branch. Reporting directly to the Senior Operations Manager, you will be responsible for contract compliance, customer service and the day-to-day operations of nominated customer accounts. The role involves working closely with customers and internal branch teams and may include the supervision of dedicated customer teams or departments. You will support the Account Manager with the development of nominated customers, helping to deliver strategic and tactical plans while driving improvements in quality, efficiency and customer service.

Customs Operations Supervisor Responsibilities

• Manage and develop existing business and relationships across nominated customer accounts.
• Oversee all day-to-day operational activities for assigned accounts.
• Ensure effective and efficient working practices with customers.
• Manage and monitor SLAs and contracts to ensure customs compliance at all times.
• Provide extensive reporting, including monthly customs reports.
• Drive improvements in margins by identifying opportunities to reduce costs and increase profitability.
• Develop and maintain long-term customer partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders.
• Attend customer meetings both on and off site.
• Work closely with supply chain management teams where applicable.
• Monitor customer volumes, revenue and profitability on a monthly basis.
• Coordinate and harmonise activities between customer teams globally, including operational processes, IT tools, statistical and financial reporting, and customer service standards.
• Support the development and execution of strategic customer plans.
• Identify opportunities to sell complete solutions and concepts in collaboration with internal colleagues and management.
• Capitalise on sales opportunities across the wider organisation.
• Organise and manage activities using a project management approach.
• Keep internal management informed of customer activities, developments and issues.
• Work within customer and country budget targets.
• Contribute to the development of the team.
• Carry out any other reasonable responsibilities requested by branch management.

Customs Operations Supervisor Requirements

• Proven experience in commercial and customer service activities.
• In-depth customs knowledge, including customs badge systems.
• Strong experience within the freight forwarding and logistics industry.

• Strong understanding of freight and supply chain management.
• In-depth knowledge of customs regimes.
• Strong working knowledge of international transportation and customs.
• Understanding of international market conditions, trends and business issues.
• Awareness of financial considerations within local and international markets, including currency factors and cultural differences.

• Strong supply chain management and logistics knowledge.
• Good understanding of import/export processes and the wider supply chain.
• Project management capabilities.
