Location: Warwickshire
Salary: Up to £45,000 (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
The Opportunity
We’re partnering with a reputable haulage operator in Warwickshire who are looking to strengthen their team with an experienced Driver Trainer. This position plays a vital role in upholding high driving standards across the fleet, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the ongoing development of drivers at all levels.
The Role:
This is a hands-on training position where you will be responsible for developing and delivering practical, in-vehicle training tailored to the needs of the business. You will work closely with drivers throughout their journey, from initial assessment through to ongoing development, ensuring best practice and safety standards are consistently met.
Key duties will include:
- Delivering structured, practical driver training across HGVs and light commercial vehicles
- Conducting driving assessments for both new and existing drivers
- Supporting the recruitment process through driver evaluations
- Providing training on load restraint, vehicle safety, and daily vehicle checks
- Assisting with driver inductions, including in-cab and on-road elements
- Reinforcing safe working practices through practical coaching and real-world application
- Supporting driver development following incidents, investigations, or performance reviews
- Working with telematics data to identify training needs and deliver targeted retraining
- Maintaining accurate training records and feeding back outcomes to ensure compliance
- Collaborating with internal teams to continuously improve driver standards and safety culture
- Contributing to audit preparation and supporting both internal and external compliance requirements
Requirements:
Essential:
- Full UK driving licence with relevant LGV categories (clean licence preferred)
- DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) or DVSA Fleet Driver Trainer qualification
- Previous experience or qualifications related to driver training delivery
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Desirable:
- Experience delivering SAFED training
- A recognised training qualification (e.g. PTTLS or equivalent)
- Health & Safety certification such as IOSH Working Safely
- Knowledge or experience of ADR or transporting dangerous goods
- Understanding of Operator Licence requirements and compliance
- Transport Manager CPC
