Ocean Import Manager

Location: Zurich, Switzerland
Salary: Up to CHF 120,000 DOE

Are you an experienced Ocean Import professional ready to take the next step in your career?

We are recruiting on behalf of an established and growing international freight forwarding business in the Zurich area, which is looking to strengthen its Ocean Freight operation with a hands-on Ocean Import Manager.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Operator, Team Leader, Supervisor or existing Manager who wants to take on greater responsibility while remaining close to the day-to-day operation.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the successful management of Ocean Import shipments from start to finish, ensuring customers receive a high level of service while working closely with colleagues, overseas partners, carriers and other stakeholders.

This is a hands-on management position, so you will need to be comfortable getting involved operationally rather than simply managing from a distance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full Ocean Import process from start to finish
• Oversee shipments from booking and documentation through to delivery and invoicing
• Coordinate with customers, shipping lines, overseas offices and international partners
• Handle import documentation and ensure shipments are processed efficiently
• Resolve operational issues and provide effective solutions to customers
• Support and guide colleagues within the Ocean Import team
• Maintain strong customer relationships and high service levels
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and operational efficiency
• Take ownership of day-to-day Ocean Import activities while supporting the wider management team

About You

We are open to candidates at different levels and would welcome applications from:

• Experienced Ocean Import Managers
• Ocean Import Team Leaders or Supervisors ready for their next step
• Senior Ocean Import Operators with the experience and ambition to move into management

You will ideally have:

• Strong, proven experience across the full Ocean Import process
• A hands-on approach with excellent operational knowledge
• Previous experience supervising, mentoring or managing colleagues, or the ambition to step into this
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Fluency in Swiss-German and English
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
• Experience within a freight forwarding environment
