Position: Road Freight & Customs Operator

Location: Eastleigh, Southampton | Freight Forwarding | Customs | Road Freight

Hours: Monday – Friday -8:30am – 17:00pm

Salary up to £30,000

Are you an experienced Freight Forwarding Operator with a background in Customs and looking for your next step?

We’re currently working with an established specialist logistics business in Eastleigh that is looking to add an experienced operator to its Road Freight team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has a grounding in customs clearance across both imports and exports, but who is also keen to broaden their knowledge of road freight and develop their career further within freight forwarding.

You don’t need to be an expert across every area already – the client is particularly interested in someone with the right attitude, willingness to learn and potential to develop.

The Role

You’ll primarily work within the Road Freight department, managing a varied range of shipments and supporting customers throughout the process.

A significant part of the role will involve customs, so strong experience in customs clearance is important. Over time, there will also be the opportunity to develop your knowledge across other areas of freight forwarding and potentially train in an additional mode.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing day-to-day road freight shipments
• Handling import and export customs clearance
• Preparing and checking customs and shipping documentation
• Liaising with customers, hauliers, suppliers and other stakeholders
• Coordinating shipments from booking through to delivery
• Dealing with customs queries and resolving operational issues
• Ensuring shipments are processed accurately and efficiently
• Supporting the wider freight forwarding operation
• Developing your knowledge of road freight and other modes over time

What We’re Looking For

We’re interested in speaking with candidates who have:

• Previous experience within freight forwarding
• Solid experience with customs clearance
• Knowledge of both import and export customs processes

Road freight experience would be advantageous, but it isn’t essential.
