Location: Wythenshawe

Hours: Mon – Fri 9:00 – 17:30 (Flexible)
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days working from home, 3 days office-based
Salary: Up to £35,000

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the full ocean import operations process, from origin through to final delivery
• Liaise with global offices, agents, shipping lines, and suppliers to ensure smooth shipment coordination
• Negotiate freight rates to deliver best-value solutions for clients
• Select appropriate carriers and service options based on customer requirements
• Provide competitive quotations and monitor market trends
• Maintain clear and regular communication with clients throughout the shipment lifecycle
• Ensure accurate documentation to support customs clearance
• Coordinate delivery schedules with hauliers and transport providers
• Troubleshoot and resolve delays or shipment issues efficiently
• Manage invoicing, costs, and margin control accurately
• Support client visits alongside the sales team to build long-term relationships

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in ocean import operations within freight forwarding
• Strong knowledge of end-to-end import processes, including customs procedures
• Confident in negotiating rates and selecting suitable carriers
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
• A proactive problem-solver who remains calm under pressure
• Comfortable working with freight systems and Microsoft Office
